I just discovered what this group is about. Pretty interesting concepts. Seems influenced by software copyrighting trends.
Here's a really good contest winner they used to prompote their cause:

Re: Creative Commons
Mon, May 9, 2005 - 2:01 AMI've been bemoaning the difficulty artists have had in creating simple, easy-to-read licenses while also protecting their butt through use of legal terminology. Creative Commons gives you both: a human-readable summary of the license and an official-looking legal document for the lawyers. Awesome! And they have easy-to-understand icons. I like it!
I'm using CC licenses for my music right now - I just licensed my latest album as a freely-distributable, no-derivations, no-profit, and I must receive credit. But, yeah, other than that, anyone who wants to can copy or distribute the album as they see fit! It's available for free high-quality download at the Internet Archive: www.archive.org - then search for 'Revolution Void' (that's the name of my project) ... it should be the first search result. For more info, check out my website at www.revolutionvoid.com ...
So, yeah, from a musician's perspective it makes it way easier to license my music.
I also worked on a website for the artist Yuriko Miyamoto, and she licenses her work through Creative Commons as well. That web link is www.ysquare.net

The goal is to collect clip art in the public domain so it is free for any use. -

Re: Creative Commons
Thu, February 23, 2006 - 8:36 AMhey.... i found out about this new built website which i found pretty interesting: www.beatpick.com
all music is released under the CC and i found it useful as you can stream all their albums and then you can license their music for your projects online in a few minutes. if your project is noncommercial you use it for free as it is CC governed.
a variety of music genre ... if you are patience to search, i think you can find interesting artists... take care...

CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSE UPHELD IN COURT
This is one of the first times that the license--which offers more flexibility than traditional copyright licenses--has been tested in a court of law. Former MTV VJ Adam Curry sued Weekend, a Dutch gossip magazine, for copyright infringement after the magazine published photos of Curry's daughter without his authorization. The photos, which Curry had posted on the Flickr photo-sharing site, were covered by the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 license, which states that while the licensed content can be used freely for noncommercial purposes as long as the source is made clear, the content cannot be used for commercial purposes unless the creator of the content agrees to waive the conditions. The court ruled that Weekend must not use Curry's pictures again or it would face fines of 1,000 euros (about $1,200) for each photo used without permission.
